This Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”) explains how StarkWare Industries Ltd. (“StarkWare,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) collects and uses personal information in connection with the website blockchainthebook.com (the “Site”), which provides information about and supports the marketing and sale of, the book ‘Zero Knowledge, Infinite Trust: The Evolution and Revolution of Blockchain Technology’ by Eli Ben-Sasson and Nathan Jeffay (the “Book”). This Privacy Policy forms part of, and should be read together with, our Terms of Use. By using the Site, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
We keep data collection on this Site to a minimum. The Site does not require you to register or create an account and our own forms do not collect your name, payment information, or IP address.
(a) Email addresses you provide - The Site has four places where you may voluntarily submit your email address: the newsletter sign-up, the free-chapter request, the sticky bar and the bonus-content claim form. When you do, we store your email address, a label identifying which form you used and the date and time of submission, no name and no IP address. This information is stored in a private Google Sheet accessed through our own server and is used to send book-related news and updates and to deliver the free chapter or bonus content you requested.
(b) Bonus-content claim details - If you submit a purchase confirmation to claim bonus content, we also collect the name and order confirmation number you choose to provide, solely to verify and fulfil your bonus.
(c) Analytics - We use Fathom Analytics, a cookieless analytics service that does not store visitor IP addresses and does not track visitors across other websites. It gives us aggregate statistics only, including but not limited to page views, referrers, country, device type and various clicks on the Site. We cannot identify an individual visitor from this data. Our Site’s code includes support for Google Analytics 4 (“GA4”), but GA4 is switched off and is not currently in use, and no information is sent to Google Analytics today.
(d) Server logs - Like most websites, our server automatically records standard access logs (IP address, timestamp, page requested, status code, referring page, and browser/user-agent string) for security and debugging purposes. These logs are rotated daily and permanently deleted after 52 days.
(e) Local storage for the partner-discount flow - The Site stores a small number of items in your browser’s local storage (not a cookie) to support a partner discount flow, for example, remembering that a discount code has already been applied. This information stays on your device, is not transmitted to us or to any third party, and is not used to track you.
(f) Content delivered by third parties - Certain pages load content hosted by third parties, meaning your device’s IP address is shared with them simply by loading the page:
We do not otherwise load fonts, scripts, or other assets from Google or other third parties; all such assets are served from our own server and our Content Security Policy blocks Google hosts at the server level.
(g) Links to retailers and other third-party sites - The Site links to third-party retailers (including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Bookshop.org, Books-A-Million, Porchlight, Waterstones, and Indigo) and to our Shopify store. We do not receive or process your purchase, payment, or shipping information when you click through to and transact with these third parties, except as described in Section 3 below. Their own privacy policies apply once you leave our Site.
The Site does not process payments and does not sell the Book directly.
We do not have visibility into, or receive, personal data submitted at checkout on any retailer or on Shopify/Bookhighlight, other than the confirmation details you may separately choose to submit through the bonus-content claim form described in Section 2(b).
We do not use advertising or remarketing pixels of any kind, session recording, or heatmapping tools on the Site. We do not sell or share personal information with advertisers or data brokers.
We use the information described above only for the purposes stated above: to send book news and deliver requested content, to fulfil bonus-content claims, to operate and secure the Site, and to understand aggregate Site usage. We share information with the service providers who help us do this (our email storage provider, Fathom, and Hetzner), and otherwise only where required by law, to enforce our Terms of Use, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of StarkWare, our users, or the public.
We retain email addresses submitted through our forms until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Server logs are deleted after 52 days. Bonus-claim confirmation details are retained only as long as needed to verify and fulfil your claim.
Depending on your location, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your personal information, or to object to or restrict our use of it. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at book@starkware.co. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
The Site is not directed to children under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at book@starkware.co and we will delete it.
Because our service providers (including Google, Fathom, and Hetzner) operate internationally, your information may be processed outside your country of residence, including in the United States, the European Union, and Israel. We take reasonable steps to ensure such transfers are subject to appropriate safeguards.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page, with the “last updated” date revised accordingly. Continued use of the Site after a change constitutes acceptance of the update.
Questions about this Privacy Policy or your personal information can be sent to book@starkware.co.
This Privacy Policy should be read together with our Terms of Use.
